"As an economist who does public health research on obesity, my work does not end when I get home. In fact, sometimes that is where it starts. For example, my current study using economic incentives to increase physical activity among youth was first pilot tested on my children, Max and Kyra. Since then it has expanded to a community based trial of over 300 Singaporean children. My family and I can often be seen on the weekly park outings with other participants. Ultimately, my goal is to conduct research that can improve the lives of families like mine for generations to come. Duke-NUS is a great place to conduct that research."

"Duke-NUS is like a big family and our departments have close relationships with each other. We have regular get-together events and it is during these times we develop closer ties which really helps us during the course of work. I & my team feel valued and able to contribute to improvements in the way we carry out research activities because we have a closely knitted department that works well together with full support from the school."

"I love working at Duke-NUS because it is pro-family and the professors are flexible and understanding if you have to attend to urgent family matters - a perfect work environment for mothers! This place also provides many opportunities if one has the passion and potential. I feel valued as an employee as the professors thank me and appreciate even my smallest contribution. They are both motivating and encouraging and I am given the support to perform my job as best as I can.

"The wonderful thing about working for Duke-NUS is that your colleagues are friendly and supportive. When I was tasked to organize and oversee the PhD project under my boss' guidance, I was excited to step up to the new role and what really spurred me on was the fantastic support and advice that my colleagues provided along the way. I especially want to thank my bosses for always being so understanding and giving me the room to grow and develop. In my 3 years that I have been with Duke-NUS, I have always felt valued and respected and this encourages me to continue giving my best."
