Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore (Duke-NUS) was privileged to host Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Mr Teo Chee Hean who visited its campus last Friday afternoon, on 7 January 2011.
He was warmly welcomed by key representatives from Duke-NUS - Mr Tony Chew, Chairman, Duke-NUS Governing Board; Prof Tan Ser Kiat, Chairman, Duke-NUS Development Committee (also Group CEO, SingHealth); Prof Ranga Krishnan, Dean of Duke-NUS; Prof Patrick Casey, Senior Vice Dean, Office of Research; Ms Giselia Giam, Vice-Dean, Office of Corporate Services; Prof Duane Gubler, Director, Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases; Prof David Matchar, Director, Programme in Health Services & Systems Research; Assoc Prof Sandy Cook, Senior Associate Dean, Curriculum Development; and Assoc Prof Ooi Eng Eong, Principal Investigator, Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases.
After the welcome address by Mr Tony Chew, several presentations were made to introduce the School: its teaching methodology called TeamLEAD; its key research programmes, achievements and collaborations; as well as the partnership between Duke-NUS and SingHealth in education and research. DPM Teo was also brought on a tour of the campus and its laboratories.
