The Academic Medicine Education Institute (AM•EI) is an inclusive organization and its membership is open to all educators at SingHealth and Duke-NUS. Anyone who is interested in education and wants to improve their teaching skills are encouraged to join as members.
Membership in the AM•EI provides professional and personal rewards. These include:
- Belonging to a community of educators to promote excellence in teaching and curriculum innovation
- Enhancing opportunities for collaboration and scholarship
- Participating in faculty development activities and programs
- Accessing to peer reviews and personal mentoring for teaching and educational research
- Obtaining support in promotion on educator track, at the appropriate time
- Eligibility to apply for education innovation and education research grants
AM•EI offers membership to all levels of educators or those interested in teaching. Register now to be an AM•EI member!
• Associate Membership is open to healthcare professionals who are still in training (including residents, PhD candidates, post-doctoral fellows, nursing students, allied health trainees, dental students and other students with a strong interest in healthcare education).
• Full Membership is open to all those at SingHealth or Duke-NUS with an interest in healthcare education,
• Fellow Membership is for teaching faculty who have taken on significant responsibilities in education. These are generally, but not exclusively faculty in the Clinician Educator track, including Nurse educators, course directors of medical school programs faculty with significant commitment to education, including SingHealth educators running programs for medical schools in Singapore, polytechnics, or holding other educational positions.

Criteria |
All teaching faculty with significant responsibilities in / commitment to education: faculty in the Clinician Educator track including nurse educators, allied health educators, program course directors of medical school programs; SingHealth educators training medical students, polytechnics healthcare students; or those holding other educational positions. Staff on SingHealth Educator Career Path and / or has 30% FTE in education will also fall in this category |

• Fellows are expected to evaluate one of their ongoing educational programs and to submit at least one poster about their evaluation efforts at AM•EI’s Education Research Day. |
AM EI members are encouraged to participate in the work groups. Members can serve in a variety of capacities on established working groups
• Faculty Advocacy Workgroups
This work group is charged with advocating for the interest and needs of educators across SingHealth and Duke-NUS. The workgroup will increase the recognition for outstanding teaching and educational contributions throughout the continuum of healthcare education. This workgroup will also develop criteria with Duke-NUS Annual Promotion Tenure (APT) committee that defines academic promotion for Clinician Educators.
• Educational Scholarship Work Group
This work group focuses on scholarship and research that will elevate the educational mission. Workgroup members will provide consultation and mentorship to guide educators in their development of educational grant proposals, research projects, publications and presentations. The workgroup will also create collaborative opportunities for members and provide oversight and assessment of impact of educational research projects.
• Professional Training Work Group
Members of this workgroup are charged to develop and/or teach faculty development programs. The workgroup will also organise seminars and conferences to promote interdisciplinary sharing of knowledge and ideas.
