Duke-NUS reviews its tuition fees annually. For students admitted to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in Academic Year 2013-2014, the tuition fees are:
We offer financial assistance to all enrolled students, regardless of nationality.
The tuition fees listed above have already been subsidized by the Government of Singapore to help defray the full cost of medical education. According to the Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines, all medical students training in Singapore are required to serve a service commitment (bond) with the MOH upon successful completion of the MD course and the Internship year. For students admitted in academic year 2013-2014, the service commitment (bond) period is as follows:
Students are required to pay miscellaneous fees as listed on the NUS Registrar's Office website.
Currently, the miscellaneous fees amount to about S$760 in the first year and about S$205 per annum in the second, third and fourth years of study. Miscellaneous fees may be reviewed from time to time and revisions, if any, are applicable to all students.

In Academic Year 2012-2013, about 70% of our students receive bursaries and/or scholarships, either from the School or other external organizations. Our goal is to make Duke-NUS affordable, even for those from financially challenged personal and familial circumstances. In cases where it is neediest, these bursaries and scholarships have helped to reduce the cost of a medical education at Duke-NUS significantly. There is no service commitment (bond) attached to the award of scholarships or bursaries and students may either use the funds to pay off part of their student fees or help with living expenses. Candidates who have been interviewed will be invited to apply for financial aid.
Duke-NUS has various forms of financial assistance available to our students:
Need-based financial aid scholarships (bursaries) are awarded based on familial and personal financial need. Applicants who need financial assistance may submit a financial aid application after they have been interviewed for admission at Duke-NUS. Only completed applications with the full set of required supporting documents will be processed. The bursary amount is dependent on the student’s personal and familial financial situation. Bursaries are awarded on a yearly basis and students will need to re-apply for them annually. Our bursaries enable many of our students to complete their MD degree without accumulating excessive debt.
Merit scholarships are generally awarded based on academic achievement. Criteria such as involvement in co-curricular activities and community service are also considered in the award of some scholarships. Applicants who wish to be considered for a merit scholarship should also submit a financial aid application after they have been interviewed for admission at Duke-NUS. Only completed applications with the full set of required supporting documents will be processed.
Several of the scholarships are valid for 4 years and may be used for tuition, living expenses or other fees associated with attending Duke-NUS.

Loans are available to matriculating students of any nationality for the purchase of laptops and to finance tuition fees. The Tuition Fee Loan (TFL) can be taken in various amounts up to a maximum amount that is equal to 90% of tuition fees payable by Singapore citizens. Limits may exist for students who have already been awarded scholarships which covers the tuition fee. Details on the TFL are available at the NUS Registrar’s Office website here .
Prospective students in need of financial assistance are advised to apply for financial aid only when they have been invited for an admissions interview. Students will be given a link to the online financial aid form. In subsequent years, students need to re-submit the financial aid application on an annual basis. Financial Aid will send an email notification to senior students in November/December when the financial aid application is open for the following academic year.
Duke-NUS considers financial aid received by students from external sources in making financial aid awards. It is the responsibility of financial aid recipients to keep Duke-NUS Financial Aid informed of any external financial aid that they receive or of changes in their financial circumstances. The School reserves the right to reconsider its offer of financial assistance in the event of an external award to a recipient.
