"Why did I choose to study medicine? To put it simply, I started to understand the complexity and the intricacy of medicine in university."

I have always been involved in the science part of medicine but medicine is way more than the science behind it. I began to realize that for me to make an impact in medicine, it is important to start from the perspective of an empathetic physician having understood the challenges faced by patients and physicians at the front line. The purpose of medical research is to push medicine forward, and research will have meaning to patients only when it directly improves their care. That is where I am placing myself, and that is the reason why I chose to study medicine.
