The Ministry of Health (MOH) is the arm of the Singapore Government responsible for healthcare policies and the quality of healthcare services in Singapore. It is an innovative and people-centered organization, committed to medical excellence, the promotion of good health and the reduction of illness. Through MOH, the Government manages the public health care system to ensure that good and affordable medical services are available to all Singaporeans. This is achieved through the provision of subsidized medical services while promoting individual responsibility for their health and healthcare needs. Safety nets are also provided to ensure that no Singaporean is denied access to the health care system because of their inability to pay.
Duke-NUS is closely affiliated with Singapore Health Services (SingHealth). The strategic partnership between Duke-NUS and SingHealth positions the Outram neighborhood as a vibrant hub for the advancement of medical education, research and clinical service. The collaboration focuses on synergistic conduct of world-class research, marrying SingHealth's large clinical volumes and insights drawn from Duke-NUS's renowned research methods and innovative educational models. The close proximity between the two organizations allows SingHealth clinicians to contribute actively as members of the Duke-NUS teaching faculty and in relevant translational and clinical research.
