Our students come from different countries, cultures and educational backgrounds. This rich diversity adds to the unique Duke-NUS experience. Here is what some of our students say about the institution:

“I thought I would be the only African here but I was surprised to find a very modern and diverse community in Singapore. I was an anthropology and chemistry major and although many of my classmates did the usual biological sciences, we also have engineers, pharmacists, virologists and former dieticians. Our class is small enough to get to know everyone and the professors are always available if you need to talk to them. This is the only school of its kind in the whole world, and I am glad to be a part of the excitement.”

- Nikki Kitikiti, Medical Student, Duke-NUS Zimbabwe, South Africa

“I chose Duke-NUS not only because I want to be close to my family but also because of its unique medical education. Having been educated in Singapore and New York (Electrical Engineering, Cornell University), I wanted to study in an institution that offers the diversity and intellectual curiosity of the American education system as well as the rigor and depth of the British/Singaporean education system. Duke-NUS was a clear choice for my medical education.”

- Chia Ghim Song, Medical Student, Duke-NUS Singapore

“After my enriching experience in the US tertiary education system and really liking some aspects of it, I had my reservations about coming back to Singapore for my medical education. I am happy to say that I've had no regrets. Duke-NUS is really a nice in-between world that brings together the best of American and Singaporean education. We students have unlimited access to first-class resources and an incredibly accomplished and supportive faculty. In addition, despite our small numbers, we have an incredibly diverse student population with people of all ages, nationalities, interests and educational backgrounds - my classmates are really what make the school unique and fun to attend every day.”

- Juliet Tan, Medical Student, Duke-NUS Singapore

“One of the greatest things about Duke-NUS is the emphasis on working as a team. It may seem trite to say, but you really do learn from each other, often in unexpected ways. For example, I personally find some of the organic chemistry in pharmacology difficult even though I was biochemistry major in college. However a member of a group, an anthropology major, not only understood the concepts on our pharmacology quizzes but explained them to us in a clear and simple manner. Working with your teammates on exams is a great learning tool and do I dare say, sometimes makes application quizzes fun!”

- Saideep Bose, Medical Student, Duke-NUS India
