The Sponsored Research Department (SRD) performs the pre and post-award administration of sponsored projects (funded by public and private funders) at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. The SRD acts as the bridge between the funders and research scientists at Duke-NUS with regard to the coordination of grant applications and administration of awarded grants.
SRD’s mission is also to maximize, account for and safeguard research funding received from public and private funders, maintain good relations with funders and research scientists, and to facilitate the progress of sponsored projects in Duke-NUS.
Specific responsibilities of SRD are:
- To advise Duke-NUS research scientists on local and overseas funding opportunities
- To liaise and work closely with funders for the dissemination of information pertaining to grant calls, grant policies and grant administration
- To assist Duke-NUS research scientists in non-scientific aspects of grant applications
- To collate and ensure that grant applications are submitted on time and that accounts to receive the funding are set up in a timely manner through working closely with Finance and Research Affairs (RAD) departments
- To monitor projects for compliance with funders and Duke-NUS’ requirements and ensure that progress/final reports are submitted to funders on time
- To assist Duke-NUS research scientists on post-award issues such as re-budgeting, grant variation and extension.
