Abhijit is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Ageing Research and Education. His research on ageing includes studying psychological resilience, social networks and social support, healthy life expectancy, use of technology, and work and retirement, using CARE’s quantitative data. Abhijit contributed to developing the questionnaire for wave 2 of THE SIGNS Study and coordinated its data collection in 2019. Abhijit is a Co-Principal Investigator on the NRF-funded Future Health Technologies project on “Early detection of health risks: Prevention of falls and fracture” during 2020-2025, and a Co-Investigator on the NMRC-funded Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award on “Towards Personalization: Identifying Life-History Patterns of Loneliness as the Basis for Effective Early Interventions” during 2021-2022. He is a Council Member of the Population Association of Singapore for 2022-2025. 

Abhijit received his Ph.D. and M.A in Demography from the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining CARE in 2017, Abhijit was a postdoctoral fellow at the Asia Research Institute jointly with the Centre for Family and Population Research at National University of Singapore. Abhijit’s professional background has included being a consultant with the World Bank during 2014-15, and working with the Social Initiatives Group, ICICI Bank, Mumbai from 2004 to 2008 on supporting state-civil society partnerships and developing resource centres on maternal and child health and elementary education, across India.
