An Evaluation of the National Silver Academy: Assessing the Impact of Senior Learning in Singapore

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE?

This study assesses the impact of participating in courses under the National Silver Academy (NSA) on senior learners. It will contribute to the development of policies and programmes about senior learning in Singapore.

WHO CAN JOIN?

  • Senior learners (age 50+) enrolled in NSA courses between January 2017 – March 2018
  • Enrolled in courses that are at least 12 hours AND at least 2 days long

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?

Four face-to-face surveys about well-being, health, quality of life, and learning.

To say thank you, participants will receive supermarket vouchers for completing the surveys.

  • Before or at the start of the course – $20
  • Immediately after the course ends – $20
  • 6 months after the course ends – $30
  • 12 months after the course ends – $30

Additionally, selected participants may complete a qualitative in-depth face-to-face interview(s) about what the course was like and how to improve it. (Additional supermarket vouchers will be distributed as tokens of appreciation).
