Job Responsibilities: 

The Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS) is recruiting a Director to lead our signature programme in Health Services and Systems Research (HSSR). This individual will have an international reputation in the field of health services research and the demonstrated ability to establish and lead a multidisciplinary team of researchers. Areas of strength within the HSSR Programme include the distribution and determinants of health and disease from a population perspective, the influence of social factors, ageing, financing systems, organisational structures and processes, health technologies and personal behaviour on use of health care services, and the quality, cost and effectiveness of these services. Much of this research is undertaken in Singapore, but may also be conducted internationally.

Job Requirements: 

The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in medicine, public health, epidemiology, health economics, sociology or a related discipline and be a visionary scientist.  He/She will have an outstanding history of scholarly achievement, grant funding, and mentoring. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the proven ability to work in a dynamic and culturally diverse environment are key qualities required.
Duke-NUS is a collaboration of the Duke University School of Medicine and the National University of Singapore and shares a modern campus with its Academic Medicine partner, the Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) health system. This system contains Singapore’s largest hospital, Singapore General Hospital, and several national specialty disease centres. In addition, the Singapore Ministry of Health is located on the campus.  The Singapore healthcare system is universal, efficient and comprehensive, and social and health-related data are comprehensive and of high quality.

The Director will be based in Singapore and be part of the senior management team in the School. In addition to developing their own research programme, he/she will lead in the recruitment of several interdisciplinary faculty and should be eligible for an appointment as a Full Professor at Duke-NUS. He/She will also be expected to work closely with the leadership and clinicians of SingHealth to help drive the Health Services Research (HSR) agenda for the entire Academic Medicine partnership. The position will include full salary, generous start-up support, and the resources to recruit outstanding investigators into the Programme.
