One facet of metabolic disorders is attributed to the perturbation of ER homeostasis through changes in membrane phospholipid, activating the unfolded protein response (UPR). Most studies focus on proteotoxic-induced UPR but few on lipid perturbation (LP)-mediated ER stress. We currently focus to better understand the cell stress responses leading to adaptation or death from LP-induced stress and what cause a cell to go one way or the other using yeast and C. elegans.
