Understanding of neuronal intrinsic mechanisms of axon regeneration: Lessons from C. elegans

Synopsis: 

Axon regeneration is essential to restore neuronal function after axon damage. Altering the intrinsic state of a neuron can change axon regeneration capacity. Thus, better understanding of the intracellular responses after injury can help generate more effective treatments. In Yale, I have been developing an in vivo C. elegans model to produce novel insights into the axon regeneration. I will talk about how mitochondria response to axon injury to affect axon regeneration.
