Before joining the HSSR SRP in November 2022, Eugene was the lead administrator in the Family Medicine Academic Clinical Programme (ACP). He established and managed the administrative team upon the launch of the ACP, and was heavily involved in the development and implementation of its initiatives and programmes. Prior to that, he was the research manager in Surgery ACP where he strategised, planned and oversaw the implementation of the various research initiatives and activities.
In addition to spending about 10 years in helping to advance academic medicine in SingHealth, he also had extensive experience in grant management and intellectual property management. He had served as an assistant director in the Intellectual Property Office Singapore where he worked closely with government agencies to enhance their management of intellectual property. In the National Medical Research Council, he managed the individual and institutional research grants.
He started his career as a research officer in the Bioprocessing Technology Institute, in the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, after graduating with a Master of Science degree in Microbiology from the National University of Singapore.
