Palliative Care is an approach to improve the quality of life of patients who have been identified with a life-limiting illness. Palliative care emphasizes holistic care for the patient and their family, in order to reduce suffering, often by managing pain and other symptoms associated with life-limiting illnesses. Palliative care can be provided in conjunction with life prolonging treatments and is appropriate for all ages.
