Dean's Message

I am pleased to present this first issue of "Alumni Matters", the official Duke NUS alumni e-newsletter. I am reminded when Duke Medical Alumni Association's former president, Dr Dale Shaw once said to me, "Always remember that alumni are our most enduring asset". And he is absolutely right.

Since our first MD class graduated in 2011, the total number of our alums has finally exceeded 100. Despite being a small group, your feedback and suggestions are immensely valuable as we strive to broaden and enrich the alumni experience, even long after you graduate. I encourage all Duke-NUS alums to support and participate in the programs and initiatives of our Alumni Relations Department as well as the Duke-NUS Medical Alumni society.

Know your new DNMA Committee

On 15 November 2013, Duke-NUS Medical Alumni (DNMA) saw more members assuming leadership roles and new blood being injected into the new Committee at the inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Elections, which were convened at Duke-NUS' premises.

Welcome to the first issue of the "Alumni Matters"!

This quarterly e-newsletter will help you stay connected with your alma mater, give you the latest news about friends, classmates and faculty and keep you informed about upcoming events/courses. As you will receive this e-newsletter and other important information via email, we strongly encourage you to check your emails regularly and ensure that we have your latest contact details.

Let us know if you have interesting or heartwarming stories to share or are planning to organize activities for your fellow alumni and current students: we will be delighted to include them in the "Alumni Matters". Contributions and suggestions for future issues are welcomed. Simply email us at We would love to hear from you so that we can serve you better.
Duke-NUS Medical Alumni - Heralding a new chapter in Duke-NUS' history

On 30 May 2013, His Excellency President Tony Tan, together with some 900 distinguished guests, faculty, staff, graduates and parents, witnessed a new chapter in Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School's history. It was the official launch of the much-anticipated Duke-NUS Medical Alumni (DNMA) association, marked at Duke-NUS' inaugural fundraising and graduation Gala Dinner that was celebrated that same evening.

"Hey, it's great to see ya!"

Duke-NUS has graduated 3 classes of medical students since 2011. On 21 August 2013, our alumni marked an important milestone by holding its first reunion gathering.
