Innovations and opportunities to prevent the next pandemic

Our Director, Dr. Paul Pronyk, delivered the opening address at the Philanthropy Asia Summit (PAS) session titled Harmonising Asia’s Pandemic Preparedness Efforts Now (HAPPEN).

The COVID-19 pandemic has left a lasting impact on how Asia approaches pandemic preparedness. As diseases continue to evolve and cross borders, we cannot afford to let our guard down. Addressing global health threats—including silent yet serious ones like antimicrobial resistance (AMR)—requires a comprehensive and coordinated response. This session examined the promise of innovative solutions, and provided an overview of vital work in progress to enhance pandemic preparedness across the region.
