About Asia PGI

Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative (Asia PGI)

Asia PGI was established in late 2021, with the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to leverage scientific and technical partnerships in Singapore and across Asia. Our aim is to accelerate the application of pathogen genomic sequencing for early disease detection in Asia through four key objectives – Partnerships, Capacity Development, Enabling Environment and Monitoring & Research.

Initial efforts have focused on conducting a country-led assessment of the status of pathogen genomics across 14 countries in Asia. This has informed the development of a regional Roadmap for Pathogen Genomics in Asia to inform on how to optimize pathogen genomics for public health impact.

The Asia PGI secretariat is hosted within the Centre for Outbreak Preparedness (COP) at Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore.
