Bio

Marya (Maya) Getchell is a dedicated public health professional with over ten years of experience managing complex global health projects across Africa and Asia. Maya has worked on implementation of various health programs focused primarily on maternal and child health and health system strengthening for improved immunization outcomes. She has worked for a number of organizations including Partners in Health, John Snow, Inc., and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Maya recently completed her PhD with the Health Services and Systems Research department at DukeNUS. Her research was focused on dynamic modelling and cost-effectiveness of next-generation sequencing as a diagnostic tool for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in low resource, high burden countries in Asia. In her work with the Duke-NUS Centre for Outbreak Preparedness, she will continue to investigate the health and economic impact of new technologies to facilitate pathogen genomic sequencing in the region.
