Dr. Miruna Rosu is a molecular virologist with over nine years of experience working at the intersection of academic research and public health practice. Her work integrates wet-laboratory research with applied epidemiology to support outbreak preparedness and response.
She currently holds a joint appointment as Senior Research Fellow at the Duke-NUS Centre for Outbreak Preparedness (COP) and the Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Signature Research Programme. In addition, she serves as Lead of the Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative (Asia PGI) Academy, where she oversees training and workforce development activities aimed at strengthening pathogen genomics capacity and regional preparedness. She holds a PhD in Molecular Virology from the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, with research conducted in high-containment laboratories focusing on influenza and SARS-CoV-2 evolution and immune escape.
Previously, Miruna completed EUPHEM, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) public health microbiology fellowship, based at the Italian National Institute of Health. She has also undertaken consultancy assignments with the World Health Organization (WHO), including WHO/Europe and Myanmar. She is a member of the EPIET Alumni Network and holds a BSc in Genetics and an MSc in Infection and Immunity.
