Singapore’s First Private Assisted-Living Residence Begins Operations, with Monthly Fees Starting from S$8,000
Located in the Punggol area along Punggol Field, Perennial Living offers 200 assisted-living suites and 100 nursing home beds. The operator targets a middle- to high-end clientele aged 65 and above, offering five-star services as well as comprehensive care services.
Dr Ad Maulod, Principal Research Scientist at the Centre for Ageing Research & Education at Duke-NUS Medical School, said that as Singapore’s population ages, some seniors who have the financial means are also raising their expectations for aged care.
“Some older adults want to maintain their existing lifestyle while receiving dignified care. Moving into an assisted-living facility is not because there is no one to care for them, but rather a choice they make for themselves. They want to live in a place that reflects their quality of life and status, where their various needs — including social connections and high-end dining — are met.”
