DN often accompanies diabetic retinopathy (DR), and there are clear parallels in their pathophysiology. However, the causal relationship between retinal pathology and DN is less clear. We will build on studies performed in DYNAMO I to further explore the relationship between retinal and kidney pathophysiology in diabetes, aiming to develop new approaches to stratify risk for DN and identify novel therapeutics for DN and DR.
