Singapore’s social recession: Are the elderly the hardest hit?

As social distancing measures have been implemented in Singapore, many businesses have closed and the economy has suffered. But along with the financial hardship, there's also a social recession going on, impacting the city-state's already isolated elderly hardest. Prof Angelique Chan, Executive Director of CARE, points out that, while we think of the elderly living alone as being the most lonely and depressed, CARE's research shows that they can still be lonely even if they are living with their family and their children.
