Translating clinical expertise into impact

Singapore’s multidisciplinary clinical expertise is translated into scalable, evidence-based solutions that improve patient care, build workforce capability and strengthen health systems.

Through close collaboration with local stakeholders, implementation science, clinical service improvement, capacity building and outcome evaluation are integrated to ensure practical, sustainable,and meaningful impact across diverse healthcare settings.

Our focus areas

Medical

The Medical team advances SDGHI's mission by translating clinical expertise into sustainable improvements in healthcare delivery and health outcomes across Asia. Drawing on the multidisciplinary strengths of the SingHealth Duke-NUS ecosystem, collaboration with healthcare institutions, governments and community partners enables the co-design and implementation of evidence-based solutions that address local healthcare needs. The work spans clinical service improvement, implementation science, capacity building and health systems strengthening, enabling partners to deliver high-quality, equitable and sustainable care. Through collaboration, innovation and knowledge exchange, we support stronger health systems and healthier communities across the region.

Nursing

The Nursing team advances nursing excellence through leadership development, professional education and regional collaboration. By empowering nurses with the knowledge, skills and networks to lead change, the pillar supports the delivery of safe, person-centred and high-quality care across diverse healthcare settings.

Allied Health

The Allied Health team advances allied health practice through education, research, innovation and international collaboration. By bringing together expertise across the allied health professions, the pillar supports capability development, knowledge exchange and the adoption of evidence-informed practices that enhance patient care and health outcomes.

Pharmacy

The Pharmacy team advances pharmacy practice through education, research and international collaboration. By promoting the safe, effective and appropriate use of medicines, the pillar supports healthcare professionals in improving patient outcomes and strengthening healthcare systems across the region. Through capability development, knowledge exchange and innovation in pharmaceutical care, the pillar contributes to building a skilled pharmacy workforce equipped to address evolving healthcare needs.

Working alongside multidisciplinary teams across the SingHealth Duke-NUS ecosystem, interns contribute to areas such as research, programme development, stakeholder engagement and project coordination, while developing valuable skills and insights into the field of global health.

"During my time at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute, I contributed to the Cambodian Manpower Projection initiative, which aimed to forecast future demand for speech and radiation therapists. The work involved analysing health and population data to estimate workforce needs and, when local data were limited, integrating regional ASEAN data to strengthen the analysis. This project gave me a clearer understanding of healthcare workforce planning and the value of innovative modelling approaches.”

“My time at SDGHI gave me the opportunity to contribute to projects on breast cancer access and examine principles of global health collaborations across Southeast Asia, providing exposure to qualitative analysis and stakeholder engagement. These experiences have shaped how I view my future role in clinical practice: to integrate diverse perspectives, translate recommendations into feasible implementation, and enact high-level, sustainable change.”
