Associate Professor Raymond Chua began his medical career after graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in National University of Singapore in 1997.  He became certified as a Registered Public Health specialist and Fellow with the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2007. 

In July 2011, Associate Professor Chua joined Health Sciences Authority (HSA) and was designated as the Group Director of the Health Products Regulation Group (HPRG) since May 2012 to provide oversight of the regulations of all health products in Singapore. Associate Professor Raymond Chua is currently the Deputy Director of Medical Services of the Health Regulation Group, Ministry of Health, Singapore. 

He also holds other appointments as a Deputy Registrar of the Registrar of Marriages, Council Member of the Singapore Medical Council, an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health in National University of Singapore, a Board Member of the Singapore Lyric Opera and a Committee Member of the REACH Supervisory Panel. He also co-chairs the Pan Asian Advisory Committee for the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS) and is a committee member of the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Graduate Certificate in Medical Devices Regulatory Affairs program jointly conducted by RAPS and NUS.
