2017 NIHA: Leadership Development Programme

Asia-Pacific countries face formidable challenges in public health and optimal healthcare delivery. Infectious diseases remain a major problem, while chronic, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are emerging, with many countries experiencing an epidemiologic transition where infectious diseases co-exist alongside NCDs. The rapidly ageing populations in countries such as China, Japan, Korea and Singapore, and the massive pace and scale of urbanization in China, India and parts of Southeast Asia add further complexity to public health problems. NIHA was established in response to the growing need for high quality research and education to address healthcare challenges in the Asia-Pacific. NIHA is made possible by a generous donation from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), which funds the research arm and an annual forum, and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), which funds the Leadership Development Program. NIHA is coordinated by NUS Global Asia Institute(GAI) and it will leverage on the full range of expertise in NUS.
