This course has given me a good understanding of the holistic approach to caring for patients with terminal conditions. In addition, I have learnt how complex bereavement may be for families, and I will remember that it is important to also support them through this process. I would be using the SICG framework to explore patients and families values, wishes and concerns. Also I now have more confidence in prescribing medications for EOL symptoms.

The biggest lesson I learned from the Cardiac Supportive Care Course was understanding the importance of integrating supportive care as early as possible for patients with chronic disease conditions with limited lifespan. Here I see that it's possible to do this well and succeed through building a strong team! I am practicing these valuable and important knowledge and skills learnt to improve the quality of life of my patients and their families.
