Bio

Dr Chia Zi Yang is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Singapore General Hospital. He completed his specialist training in Singapore and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery), Edinburgh. In addition, he holds a Graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine, allowing him to utilize his understanding of sports physiology and musculoskeletal biomechanics in treating patients with joint and soft tissue injuries. He completed his fellowship training at Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Marseille, France, and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, USA, where he focused on knee preservation surgery, and sports-related injuries (cartilage, meniscus, ligament). 

Dr Chia is actively involved in undergraduate medical education and is part of the faculty for Orthopaedic surgical residency. National University of Singapore appointed him Clinical Assistant Professor and convenor/examiner for the Bachelor of Medicine and surgery (MBBS) examinations. He is also appointed Clinical Assistant Professor by Duke-NUS and Adjunct Lecturer by Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University. An expert and key opinion leader in his field, he has conducted several training courses for Orthopaedic surgeons in Singapore and regionally. 

He is active in research and received the SingHealth Innovation Award in 2020. He has been awarded multiple research grants of up to $700k for his work in the field of knee preservation and shoulder injuries and has publications in renowned local and international peer-reviewed medical journals.
