Associate Professor Shahul Hameed is a Senior Consultant Neurologist at National Neuroscience Institute, Singapore General Hospital Campus, SingHealth and Clinical Associate Professor at DUKE NUS Medical School. He graduated MBBS from University of Madras, India and attained his MRCP UK while working as medical officer in Malaysia. He developed interest in Neurology while working as Medical Registrar in Fremantle Hospital, Western Australia and to pursue his interest in Neurology he got trained as Neurologist by undergoing speciality training in Singapore and obtained his FAMS(Neurology). He underwent one year Fellowship in Dementia and Neurobehavioural Programme at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He subspecializes in Cognitive Neurology and Sleep medicine. He is doing General Neurology clinical work daily in both inpatient and outpatient setting at Singapore General Hospital and also doing Dementia and Sleep Neurology clinics at outpatient setting.
He is actively involved in Medical Education both undergraduate and post graduate education in Singapore. He was the Program Director of SingHealth Neurology Senior Residency programme and during that period he was also in charge of crafting Neurology curriculum for the programme. He is also the Member of Ministry of Health Singapore Neurology EPA committee. He also helmed the post of Neurology Clerkship Coordinator at DUKE-NUS Medical School from 2012 to 2017. He is an outstanding clinician and has won multiple awards for his excellent quality service. He is an avid educator and constantly keeps himself updated in the field of medical education, he has obtained Certificate Diploma in Medical Education from University of Dundee, United Kingdom. He does collaborative medical research with SingHealth and DUKE-NUS partners mostly in Cognitive Neurology and sleep medicine.
