Bio

Dr Jiang Lei is a consultant spine surgeon in Singapore General Hospital. He was awarded the Singapore College of Surgeons Gold Medal for being the best performer in the orthopaedic surgery exit examinations and was appointed as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2021. He received fellowship training in spine surgery in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospital Trust in 2021 with exposure to complex procedures in a tertiary spine centre.

He was awarded the National Medical Research Council Research Training Fellowship and completed an MPhil in clinical neurosciences at the University of Cambridge in 2022, completing his thesis on novel neural interfaces for motor restoration in spinal cord injury. He is dedicated to translating recent advances in spinal cord neural interfaces from bench to bedside to restoring motor function in patients with paralysis due to spinal cord injury and other neurological disorders.
