ABOUT THE LECTUREThis talk will present information from a journal editor’s perspective on high impact Scientific Publishing from her experience at Science and Cell Press. The talk aims to provide practical information for preparing a paper for submission, identifying journal(s) for submission, writing a cover letter and showing what happens editorially after a paper is submitted to a journal. The talk will also discuss what is expected for reviews and how to write a review as well as other relevant information around interactions with an editor.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Laura Zahn graduated from Smith College in Massachusetts, and then worked on the Human Genome Project at Harvard Medical School. She received her Ph.D in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, with a minor in Genetics from the University of Arizona and completed her post-doctoral work for the Floral Genome Project at Pennsylvania State University. In 2006 Dr. Zahn joined Science magazine and in 2022 she became the editor-in-chief of Cell Genomics.
