CDAC Health Screening (2 December 2018)
Several of our alumni from Class of 2016 and 2017 visited Nanyang JC to conduct a community health screening for the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC)’s beneficiary families so that they can be better prepared for the commencement of the new school year. Dr Kenneth Chin, Dr Huang Youyi, Dr Tan Chong Yew, Dr Kenneth Goh, Dr Chen Yuan Yi Constance and Dr Tan Hong Yu spent their Sunday providing medical care, counselling and education for the participants to take greater command of their health and to encourage them to make healthier modifications to their lifestyle and choices.
Project Inspire (30 March 2019)
Organised by SingHealth Internal Medicine Residency, Project Inspire aims to better prepare final year students for the start of their tenure as house officers by simulating common issues faced by house officers in the wards. The final year students were presented various scenarios, such as hyerkalemia with acute kidney injury, acute hemolytic transfusions, bleeding gastric ulcers and nosocomial fevers.
Our alumni members played important roles in making Project Inspire a continuous success, both in organising this year’s team (Dr Ruan Xucong, Dr Wu Hong King and Dr Francine Tan from Class of 2017) and in coming back on a Saturday to lead the stations and sharing their experiences with the attendees.
Project DOVE
Project DOVE (Duke-NUS Overseas Volunteering Expedition) is a student-led initiative where students travel to less-developed countries in the region to operate medical clinics and conduct health education visits to local schools. It happens to be the 10th anniversary of Project DOVE and also the first year where alumni of Duke-NUS Medical School were invited. Class of 2012 alumni Dr Ignasius Aditya Jappar and Dr Lim Jing Wei were back as faculty volunteers to contribute to the meaningful trip.
