Silke Vogel

Professor, Office of Faculty Affairs

Vice-Dean, Office of Faculty Affairs

Duke-NUS Medical School

Bio

As Vice Dean of the Office of Faculty Affairs, Professor Vogel leads the faculty affairs portfolio with a focus on supporting faculty growth, wellbeing, and professional development. In this role, she works closely with faculty across all stages of their academic careers, onboarding through to promotion and recognition, fostering a vibrant and inclusive faculty community at Duke-NUS and the Academic Medical Centre of SingHealth.
As Head of Graduate Studies and the Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL), Professor Vogel oversees an interconnected education portfolio spanning doctoral training to professional development. She leads the academic and educational affairs of three PhD programs, enabling graduate students to achieve excellence and realise their career goals. This work extends naturally into her leadership of the CLL, Duke-NUS's dedicated learning hub for healthcare professionals, where NUS accredited programs and short courses are offered with planned expansion. Across both roles, she works with faculty and clinician-educators to identify capability gaps and advise on pedagogy, course structures, and accreditation processes for Executive and Graduate Certificates as well as Master's programs.
Having served as Deputy Director of the Centre of Regulatory Excellence (CoRE) since its founding in 2014, Prof Vogel now transitions to the role of Senior Advisor at CoRE, continuing to contribute her expertise in regulatory sciences and academic training to advance the Centre's strategic goals.
A scientist by training, prior to joining Duke-NUS Medical School, Professor Silke Vogel worked at Columbia University in the Department of Preventive Medicine as an Assistant Professor (tenure track), directing a research laboratory with a focus on understanding factors involved in the development of obesity and insulin resistance. During this time, she participated in teaching Master of Science students and health care professionals in the Institute of Human Nutrition.
