Bio
Chandrika Ramakrishnan is a physician-researcher working as a Research Fellow at the Lien Centre for Palliative Care, Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore. Here work is in health services research focusing on improving care for patients with hypertension, kidney disease, and more recently around palliative care to improve end-of-life care for people with serious illnesses. She has extensive experience in qualitative studies, cohort studies and mixed-method research methodologies in a wide variety of settings and topics. Key projects that she has led or leading include a) qualitative evaluation of the national advance care planning program in Singapore, b) needs assessment and informing content of a mobile-application intervention for caregivers of people with dementia, c) exploring stakeholder perceptions on decision-making for dialysis withdrawal; d) developing a web-based advance care planning intervention to help individuals with kidney failure on dialysis make decisions that aligns with their preferences and goals, e) cultural adaptation of the serious illness conversation guide to Singapore context, and f) cluster randomized trial evaluating a hypertension management program in eight primary care clinics in Singapore.
She has published over 15 peer-reviewed papers in the existing literature. She received her medical degree (M.B.B.S) from University of Madras, India, public health training (MPH) at the University of Hong Kong, HK, and a postgraduate diploma in diabetes from Cardiff University, UK.
