Bio
A/Prof. Katy Leung is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Associate Professor of Duke-NUS Medical School. She graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and obtained Specialist Accreditation for Rheumatology in Hong Kong in 2006. She obtained Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2017. While in Hong Kong, she was the Chief in Rheumatology in North District Hospital 2008-2011 and was appointed as Honorary Assistant Professor in CUHK 2009-2011.
A/Prof. Leung joined SGH in 2011 and is currently the Department’s Director of Research. With passion in research, she was awarded the SGH Nurturing Clinician Scientist Program in 2012, National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Transition Award in 2013 and Clinician Scientist Award in 2017 and 2025. Her interests in research include psoriatic arthritis (PsA), osteoarthritis and outcome measures. She has published more than 200 articles in peer review journals and serves as Associate Editor of International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases, Frontiers in Medicine, BMC Rheumatology and Singapore Medical Journal. She is also a regular reviewer for more than 20 regional and international journals.
Dr Leung has been the lead international research studies, including the Asian Pacific Leagues of Association for Rheumatology (APLAR) recommendation guidelines for PsA in 2024, Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA) recommendation guidelines 2021 and 2025. She has been leading the GRAPPA-Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) outcome measure working group since 2017. She has been serving as technical advisory group (TAG) for OMERACT since 2018. Dr Leung has played leadership roles in regional and international professional societies. She was the co-chair of the Scientific Committee for APLAR (2021-2023), she co-chaired the organization of the APLAR congress (the largest rheumatology conference in Asia) in Singapore in 2024. She is also the co-chair of education committee for GRAPPA since 2023.
