Bio
Dr Loo Jing Liang is a Senior Consultant and Head of the Neuro-Ophthalmology Department at the Singapore National Eye Centre. She is a Visiting Consultant to Changi General Hospital and the National University Hospital. She is a Clinical Faculty at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Program .
She obtained her medical degree from the National University of Singapore. She completed her advanced specialist training in Ophthalmology and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and the Academy of Medicine (Singapore) in 2008. Following this, she embarked on a one year Neuro-Ophthalmology fellowship at the Singapore National Eye Centre. In 2009, she received the Higher Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) award from the Ministry of Health and spent one year at the Wilmer Eye Institute at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. There, she underwent further training in Neuro-Ophthalmology under the preceptorship of Professor Neil Miller, an international leader in the field of Neuro-ophthalmology.
As a Clinician Educator, Dr Loo is actively involved in the training of medical students and Ophthalmology residents. She is a member of the Core Faculty of the SingHealth Residency Programme (Ophthalmology) and also plans curriculum as well as conducts lectures for medical students from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS). She is also an Adjunct Research Fellow with the Singapore Eye Research Institute.
Dr Loo has presented at numerous local and international conferences as well as published in international peer reviewed journals. Besides Neuro-ophthalmology, Dr Loo also practices general ophthalmology and performs cataract surgery as part of her practice.
