Bio
A/Prof Lynette Oon is a Senior Consultant clinical microbiologist with a special interest in molecular microbiology. She is currently Head of the Department of Microbiology in the Singapore General Hospital and also holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. She was the first Head of the Molecular Laboratory Section in the Department of Microbiology in the Singapore General Hospital from 2006-2025 where she helped to develop its range of molecular tests in microbiology, detection of mutations in somatic cancers as well as pharmacogenomics molecular tests. She was Head of the Department of Molecular Pathology, Singapore General Hospital from 2016-2023 when she led the department to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and was Academic Vice-Chair (Clinical Quality and Innovation) in the Pathology Academic Clinical Programme, SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre from 2017-2023. In addition to her duties in the field of clinical microbiology, she is actively involved in the field of biological safety. She is the Director of the SingHealth Office of Biosafety and chairs the SingHealth Institutional Biosafety Committee which oversees biological safety in research within SingHealth.
