Bio
Dr. Pua Yong Hao is a Senior Principal Physiotherapist and the Research and Innovation Lead in the Allied Health Division at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He is an Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS and serves as the Lead Mentor at the Centre for Clinician-Scientist Development (CCSD). He earned his Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours from the University of Manchester in 1999 and completed his Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Melbourne in 2009.
Dr. Pua’s research focuses on utilizing technology and data analytics to assess, evaluate, and improve physical function in patients with musculoskeletal conditions. He is actively engaged in developing mobile health (mHealth) applications for self-directed patient rehabilitation and validating novel functional assessment tools, such as the patent-pending SCREENii device. His work is supported by over $2.4 million SGD in competitive grant funding from the National Medical Research Council (NMRC), including the HPHSR Clinician Scientist Award and the Transition Award.
Dr. Pua has been consistently ranked in the Stanford-Elsevier list of the world’s top 2% scientists from 2023 to 2025. He has published 145 original articles in international peer-reviewed journals, achieving an H-index of 49. Committed to building the next generation of clinical researchers, Dr. Pua actively mentors healthcare professionals and has successfully co-supervised numerous Allied Health PhD and Masters students across international institutions.
