Bio

Dr Tan Ee Shien graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1998. She started her training in Paediatrics in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in 2000 and obtained her MRCPCH in 2002. She then pursued her interest in genetics and was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan fellowship in 2005. She trained in Genetic Metabolic Medicine at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney, Australia. Dr Tan is currently the Head of genetics service and Senior consultant in the department of paediatric medicine in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She is also a visiting consultant to NUH. She is also the Director of the National Newborn Screening Program in Singapore.

She is actively involved in education and was the deputy clerkship coordinator for the Duke paediatric clerkship. She is an assistant professor in Duke GMS and YLL SOM, being active in both undergraduate education. She was also awarded Clinician Scientist Award 2009-2011 and is still involved in many research projects within the genetics service.
