Bio
Wei Wen is a research fellow at A/P Lei Sun’s laboratory at CVMD. He received his doctorate degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2016. During the PhD, he was trained in breast pathology, cell and molecular biology. Thereafter, he received first postdoctoral training in RNA biology at cancer science institute of Singapore. He has a vast amount of experience in genomic, epigenetic and RNA research. Wei Wen has co-developed a serum blood test to detect DNA methylation and as a result he is part of the patent submitted for the method which was being licensed by Cepheid. Wei Wen’s research focuses on nutrient control of mRNA translational and its impacts on adipocytes’ homeostasis. To study translational control, he has developed a comprehensive platform integrating polysome profiling, computational analysis and cell based functional assays. His other area of expertise includes ChIP/RIP-sequencing and characterizing RNA binding protein. Wei Wen is currently funded by YIRG/NMRC.
