Bio
Lia joins CARE as a quantitative researcher with experience across academia, industry research and consulting, and research commercialisation. Her expertise is in clinical and cognitive neuroscience, biostatistics, epidemiology, program evaluation, and real-world evidence studies.
Before joining CARE, Lia worked as an industry consultant in Australia from 2020-2024 and led multiple large-scale clinical quality improvement projects in the areas of aged care and neurorehabilitation for the government and private sector. Prior to this, she held academic positions at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Medicine, University of Western Australia (UWA) School of Population and Global Health, and University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA) School of Medicine, where she underwent postdoctoral training in clinical trials, implementation science, and advanced statistical and epidemiological analysis using population-based administrative health data collections across the fields of cancer epigenetics, pharmacoepidemiology, and general practice (GP) medicine.
Lia has authored 45 publications and been awarded A$6.5m in research funding as Principal Investigator. She is the principal developer of TARB-Ex, an electronic screening tool for identifying risk of familial hypercholesterolaemia using GP EMRs, that has been implemented for routine clinical screening across Australia. She currently serves as a member of the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Grant Assessment Committee as an early career expert in neurological and ageing research.
