Bio

Bernice is a Senior Research Fellow in the Programme in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders at Duke-NUS Medical School. She received her BSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Melbourne and her PhD in Integrated Biology and Medicine from Duke-NUS Medical School under the mentorship of Professor David Silver. Prior to working at Duke-NUS, Bernice worked as a Senior Research Officer at National Cancer Centre, Singapore with Professor Teh Bin Tean, where she co-led a project on anti-angiogenic therapies as part of the Roche-Singapore Hub for Translational Medicine. 

Her current research focuses on epidermal barrier maintenance with the hope of developing therapies to improve wound healing or skin diseases such as psoriasis and dermatitis. Her work is supported by the Khoo Postdoctoral Fellowship Award and Open Fund - Young Individual Research Grant (OF-YIRG) and she was selected to attend the 11th HOPE Meeting organized by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in 2019.
