Coronavirus cases are surging in over half of US states, some of which are reporting record numbers of new cases daily, raising concern that a second wave of the virus could be building momentum. For people in the US weary of lockdowns, social distancing and the polarising issue of face masks, a vaccine can't arrive soon enough. Among international efforts to develop one, a vaccine candidate developed by researchers at the Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore, set to enter into human trials in August, might not only create immunity to the coronavirus, it could also potentially be used to treat active infections.
