Covid vaccination and the quest for herd immunity in Singapore (Straits Times)
Singapore has managed to achieve a low rate of COVID-19 infection compared to other countries, though at a significant economic and socials costs. With the virus showing no signs of abating, the one hope is a safe and effective vaccine. Evidence suggests that for herd immunity to occur, roughly 70 per cent of the population would need to be immune, either through vaccination or through prior exposure. But vaccine uptake rate depends on many factors, not least of which is price.
