Outbreak of dengue fever in Southeast Asia is ‘exploding’ amid the coronavirus fight (CNBC)

Southeast Asia is seeing “exploding numbers” of dengue fever cases, and all this comes at a time when the world is still combating the coronavirus pandemic that has left economies battered and millions sheltered at home as a result of social distancing measures aimed at curbing the disease’s spread. Dr Duane Gubler, Emeritus Professor and Founding Director of Duke-NUS’ Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) programme, agreed that people who are stuck at home all the time probably have greater contact with mosquitoes carrying dengue and greater precautions need to be taken to control mosquito larvae.
