A/Prof Marcus Ang receives Artemis Award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting 2019

Dr Marcus Ang, MBBS, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Duke-NUS Medical School. He is also a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Singapore National Eye Centre, specialising in Cornea and Refractive surgery.

Dr Ang is the recipient of the American Academy of Opthalmology’s 2019 Artemis Award, for his efforts to provide free eye care for people across Asia. He was previously awarded the Singapore’s Volunteer and Philanthropy Award.

Since 2006, Dr Ang has served as Founding Director of Global Clinic Ltd., a Singapore non-profit organisation that provides free eye care and surgery in developing countries in Asia.

In 2013, Dr. Ang initiated the Mobile Eye Clinic Project, a programme under the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology that provides free eye care to the elderly in underprivileged communities. It has benefitted more than 5,000 people to date.
