Bio

Dr Samuel TH Chew is a Senior Consultant with the Geriatric Medicine department at Changi General Hospital (CGH), Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, Duke-NUS Medicine Academic Clinical Program. 

He received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1997. He then went on to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Informatics from University College London in 2007, and his specialist training in internal medicine and geriatric medicine from the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board in UK in 2009. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh and Academy of Medicine, Singapore. 

Dr Chew is a faculty member for the SingHealth Residency Program in geriatric medicine, internal medicine and family medicine since 2011. He is also one of the tutors for the NUS Centre of Healthcare Simulation undergraduate training programs in professionalism, team working and inter-professional education since 2015.

He has a deep passion in delivering evidence-based care for older adults, and has been engaged in clinical teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels on a daily basis for over two decades. Clinical work includes acute geriatric medicine, geriatric rehabilitation and management of multimorbidity, malnutrition, and sarcopenia in the ambulatory setting.

Current research focus areas are nutrition and muscle health in older adults.
