Master of International Translational Medicine - Directors' Message

Message from the Directors

Dear Prospective Students,

Advancing research from discovery to meaningful patient impact requires more than strong technical skills. It demands an understanding of the translational continuum, how ideas move from early scientific insight through development, evaluation, and implementation, as well as the operational, strategic, and interpersonal competencies needed to navigate that journey. These essential capabilities are rarely taught in traditional scientific or clinical training.

The Duke-NUS Graduate Certificate and Master of International Translational Medicine programmes were developed to address this need and to equip professionals with a comprehensive, real-world view of how translational research moves forward.

Versatile Programmes for a Diverse Research Community

Our programmes attract individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including research assistants, coordinators, managers, clinicians, and early-career scientists. Regardless of starting point, students share a common ambition: to broaden their understanding of the translational process and to build the capabilities needed for greater responsibility and leadership in research.

Whether you aspire to lead research teams, manage complex projects, or position yourself to become a successful principal investigator, these programmes provide a strong foundation for advancing your career.

Graduate Certificate in International Translational Medicine (GCITM)

The GCITM offers a focused introduction to the core principles and processes of translational science through four foundational courses. It is ideal for individuals seeking to build knowledge, enhance their research contributions, or prepare for more advanced training.

Master of International Translational Medicine (MITM)

The MITM provides deeper engagement with the complexities of translation. Through advanced coursework, international immersion, and a mentored capstone project, students gain the skills, perspective, and confidence needed to guide research across the translational continuum.

A Global Community Committed to Impact

Through our partnership with the Eureka Institute for Translational Medicine, students join an international network of educators, innovators, and practitioners who are shaping the future of translational research. This community provides mentorship, insight, and inspiration that extend well beyond the classroom.

Across both programmes, our goal is simple: to help you develop the capabilities and perspective needed to advance your career and contribute meaningfully to improving patients’ lives. We look forward to welcoming you into this growing community of translational professionals and leaders.
